I really want Max Payne to be good. However, a check over at Rotten Tomatoes seems to show a media review blackout (or they haven't screened it! or used NDAs!), since the damn thing doesn't have any reviews yet.

Typically, this is the sign of a movie that they know is gonna blow, but they want to take in as much money as possible before word gets out that it sucks.

I sure hope I'm wrong, because this movie could be good if it wanted to.

Apparently the director's cut which will come out on DVD will be better, as the director was pissed that he had to cut some large number of min out to get it a PG13 rating. Meh.

Did you know Dark Knight was PG13? That's what happens when you are a rich movie studio. You get stuff you shouldn't. The Dark Knight was R on so many levels.

Dr Horrible was very good. It's a musical about a supervillain and is only about 40 minutes long (in 3 episodes). It's by Joss Whedon of Firefly and Buffy fame. If you haven't seen it though, go do so, as it comes off the webs at the end of tomorrow.

I'd mentioned Slacker in the past as a pandora-alternative with some frakkin gumption behind it. It seems they have more support than Pandora, at least, and a similar idea (build your own radio station). Well, they just released a portable: http://www.slacker.com/products/portables/details/demo-video/?slk=n_22_vidbtn

The thing looks beautiful, but is expensive for the storage. I think you must be paying upfront royalties since you upload Stations from Slacker to the device and never pay for the music it plays for you.

I think this is a step forward, let's see how it pans out.

A good and fun example of this study: http://www.dothetest.co.uk/ If you haven't done this before, you're in for a treat. It's really MUCH MUCH harder to count passes than you might think in this situation, so pay close attention. Commenters: don't give away the real answer!

Cooking

Made a Pot Roast today and some veggies. It came out pretty good. Used a liberal amount of sweet vermouth just because and was rewarded. Needed to cook the roast longer though, so I'm letting the rest of it (after dinner) cook for another 4 hours.
